Count Anything
Count Anything is a word-count utility. It runs on Windows, and is completely free. See below for more information and the download link.
Features
Count Anything counts the words and characters in a variety of file formats. While it doesn't quite count anything, it supports the following file types:
- MS Word (.doc, .rtf)
- MS Excel (.xls, .csv)
- MS PowerPoint
- Text
- HTML
- XML
It counts words in text boxes and many other embedded objects. It counts the numbers of words, characters (with and without spaces), Asian characters, and non-Asian words.
You can save the reports generated by Count Anything as HTML files, or print them.
Another utility that comes with the setup program, Dump Text, will dump the text from the specified files into text files with the extension ".segs.txt" appended (useful if you want to get the text out of an MS Office, HTML, or XML file). This can also be useful if you want to make sure of your wordcounts, since Count Anything uses the text dumper internally to get at the file text.
