Setting Options

To get a set options, from the Tools menu, select Options. The settings are as follows:

Count Settings

  • Recurse subdirectories: Add all subdirectories when adding a folder to the word count list
  • Count number-only segments: Include number-only segments in the word count

File Extensions

Here, you can specify the extensions to assign to various file types. Separate multiple entries with semicolons (";"). If a file extension isn't specified in the preferences, Count Anything will try to find the default program for that file extension, and if the default program is one of the Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint), it'll use that. Otherwise, Count Anything will assume that it's a text file.
