English translation of nando demo (romaji version)

For your karaoke pleasure, here's the romaji version of my translation of the lyrics to the Dreams Come True song nando demo.

komiagete kuru namida o nankai fuitara
How many times must I wipe these welling tears
tsutaetai kotoba wa todoku daro?
until I can get through to you?

dare ka ya nani ka ni okotte mo deguchi wa nai nara
If getting mad doesn't give me a way out anyway?

nando demo nando demo nando demo tachi agari yobu yo
I'll keep on, I'll keep on, I'll keep on
kimi no namae koe ga kareru made
getting back up and calling your name until I'm hoarse
kuyashikute kurushikute ganbatte mo
Even when I'm frustrated and suffering, and
do shiyo mo nai toki mo kimi o omoidasu yo
nothing seems to work, I'll think of you

ichi man kai dame de heto heto ni natte mo
Even if I fail 10,000 times, and I'm all worn out
ichi man ikkai me wa nani ka kawaru ka mo shirenai
The 10,001st time something might change

kuchi ni suru tabi honto ni tsutaetai kotoba wa
Every time I try, the words I really want to say
poro poro to koborete nigete yuku
come tumbling out and run away

kanashimi ni shihai sasete tada tsubusareru no nara
If I'll just give reign to my sadness and be crushed anyway

nando demo nando demo nando demo tachi agari yobu yo
I'll keep on, I'll keep on, I'll keep on
kimi no namae koe ga kareru made
getting back up and calling your name until I'm hoarse
ochikonde yaruki mo mou soko tsuite
Even if I'm down and lose the will to go on
ganbarenai toki mo kimi o omoidasu yo
and the fight goes out of me, I'll think of you

ichi man kai dame de kakko warukutemo
Even if I fail 10,000 times, and look like a fool
ichi man ikkai me wa nani ka kawaru ka mo shirenai
The 10,001st time something might change

mae o muite shigamitsuite
I'll stay positive and hold on
mune kaki mushitte akiramenaide sakebe!
I'll bang my chest — and not give up — and shout!

nando demo nando demo nando demo tachi agari yobu yo
I'll keep on, I'll keep on, I'll keep on
kimi no namae koe ga kareru made
getting back up and calling your name until I'm hoarse
kuyashikute kurushikute ganbatte mo
Even when I'm frustrated and suffering, and
do shiyo mo nai toki mo kimi no uta o omoidasu yo
nothing seems to work, I'll think of your songs

kono saki mo tsumazuite kizu tsuite kizu tsukete
Even if I stumble, and get hurt or hurt someone else
owari no nai yariba no nai ikari sae
and there's no end in sight and I can't even vent my anger
modokashiku idaki nagara
and I get impatient
do shite wakaranain da? tsutawaranain da?
Why don't you understand? Why can't I get through to you?
aegi nageki nagara jibun to tatakatte miru yo
I'll fight myself, panting and grieving

ichi man kai dame de nozomi naku natte mo
Even if I fail 10,000 times, and there's no hope in sight
ichi man ikkai me wa kuru
The 10,001st time'll come

kimi o yobu koe chikara ni shite iku yo nando mo
Calling your name will give me strength, and I'll keep on
ashita ga sono ichi man ikkai me ka mo shirenai…
Because tomorrow might be that 10,001st time…

    Hi there,
I just happened to find your blog and it is very interesting. I especially like the entry you discusses about freelance translator. I am living in the US and I did lots of translation from English to Vietnamese but the Vietnamese paid so little and I did it because it is my hobby. I am writing this to you in hope that you may know some sources where I can do the translation for and really get paid for it. That way I can still enjoy my hobby and have money to pursue my college right now without the need of working part-time at clothing store. Having a 2 year old baby, with working and schooling, I guess you know how hard it is.
Well do not want to bother you too long. Keep up your interesting life.
I hope to hear from you soon.
    Thank you.

  • I think you’re in a tough position, because there are lots of people in Vietnam willing to work very cheaply. I hear the same thing from people translating to Chinese.

You might try to differentiate yourself from them. For example, many US companies require a SSN or taxpayer ID to work for them; you could try targeting them. Others require ATA certification; you could try joining the ATA and getting certified.

    Good luck!

  • Thank you for the translation.

I first heard this song on the Emergency Room 24 hours J drama and took me a couple of years to find out the name of the song even though I knew it was a DCT. After I tracking it down recently – I listen to it over and over never knowing its real meaning. The lyrics means something real to me and I’m blown away.

Your work in translating it is really appreciated by me.

Indeed, thanks very much! This song is epic on its own, though antiquated yet its remarkability stays w/in one’s heart through out the time…

    Cheers!
