… you acknowledge that you owe me a hamburger by next Tuesday.

If that sounds silly, why would this disclaimer in an email signature sound any less so?

By receiving this email, you are acknowledging that it contains attachments or other information that is intended solely for the use of the named recipient or recipients.

    In addition, I can still forward that email to a competitor and not break the disclaimer, because the information is actually “intended” (by me) for the competitor. It doesn’t define “intended” properly (ie. intended by who).

  • And what would you say to the letter I got, which ended thus.

    “If this letter does not reach you, do phone me immediately”.
